Thousands join Maulidur Rasul nationwide, Anwar leads UPM procession under Madani Dihayati theme

Thousands of Muslims across Malaysia participated in the Maulidur Rasul 1448H/2026M celebrations, commemorating the life and teachings of Prophet Muhammad SAW. The nationwide event, themed Madani Dihayati, Ummah Diberkati, saw processions, recitations of selawat, and the presence of government officials, private sector representatives, and NGOs.

Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim led the nationwide celebration at Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM) in Serdang, where over 4,000 people gathered to honor the Prophet's life and teachings. In Selangor, Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah attended the state-level celebration and presented the Maulidur Rasul Figure Award to a prominent Muslim women's dakwah movement figure.

In Negeri Sembilan, heavy rain forced the cancellation of the procession, while in Johor, Menteri Besar Datuk Onn Hafiz Ghazi led a procession of 5,000 participants. In Terengganu, the Regent presented awards to community organizations and activists, while in Kedah, Sultan Sallehuddin presented the Imam Figure Award. In Perak, Sultan Nazrin Shah honored veteran actor and director Datuk Rahim Razali.

In Melaka, Yang Di Pertua Negeri Tun Mohd Ali Rustam led a procession of nearly 7,000 participants from 101 contingents.
