Motion on PAS-Umno cooperation to be tabled at muktamar, says Takiyuddin

PAS secretary-general Takiyuddin Hassan announced that a motion on political cooperation between Umno and PAS will be presented at the Islamic party's annual muktamar. "One of the motions that will certainly be discussed is Muslim unity, as well as political cooperation between PAS and Umno," he stated to reporters following his attendance at a forum titled "Reality and Perception: Don’t Politicise Tabung Haji".

Takiyuddin's remarks came in response to inquiries about the motions scheduled for the PAS muktamar. This disclosure followed Umno president Ahmad Zahid Hamidi's confirmation on Sunday that his party would send delegates to the PAS muktamar, as they had received an invitation. Takiyuddin also mentioned that talks between Perikatan Nasional (PN) and Barisan Nasional (BN) regarding cooperation in the upcoming Melaka state election were proceeding positively, though no definitive agreement had been reached.

"We have initiated negotiations, but we have not yet arrived at a final decision. We are still discussing the method and structure of the cooperation that will be carried out," he explained. "However, the negotiations thus far have been highly positive. I can confidently state that they are very positive."
