Hong Kong star Mat Yeung’s new SS2 restaurant in PJ temporarily shut over premises breach

KUALA LUMPUR, Aug 25 — Hong Kong actor Mat Yeung's newly opened SS2 roast meat restaurant in Petaling Jaya has been temporarily shut by the city council over alleged licensing and premises breaches. The closure, effective from 1pm on August 24, was ordered by the authorities, who found that part of the restaurant's kitchen was occupying public space.

SS2, which opened on August 14, apologized to customers for the disruption, stating that it would close for two days to make necessary adjustments before resuming operations on August 26. Yeung, 45, explained in an interview that he and his team had inadvertently placed items in the back alley behind the restaurant, which violated the authorities' guidelines.

The SS2 restaurant marks Yeung's first venture into the local food business, fulfilling his long-held ambition to operate a traditional Hong Kong-style roast meat eatery. The TVB actor has been hands-on with the restaurant since its launch, even serving customers and assisting with daily operations when his filming schedule allows.

Yeung's recent engagement to Malaysian model Lisa Ch’ng in a lavish ceremony at a Kuala Lumpur hotel on August 2, preceded the restaurant's opening.
