Dan Stevens to Lead Prime Video’s ‘RoboCop’

Dan Stevens will assume the lead role in Prime Video's forthcoming "RoboCop" series, embodying the iconic character of Alex Murphy/RoboCop. The reimagining of the 1987 film is being produced by showrunner, writer, and executive producer Peter Ocko. The story follows a powerful tech corporation convincing the city to integrate a formidable robot into its police force, a robot bearing the consciousness of a revered fallen officer.

Ocko is co-executive producing "RoboCop" alongside James Wan, Michael Clear, and Rob Hackett, who are through Blumhouse Atomic Monster, while Danielle Bozzone serves as a co-executive producer. Ed Neumeier and Michael Miner, the co-creators and co-writers of the original "RoboCop" film, are also among the executive producers for the series. The series will comprise eight episodes.

Stevens' casting announcement came just over a month after the series received the greenlight at Prime Video. Stevens is a versatile actor, known for his roles in "The Guest," "Downtown Abbey," and "Beauty and the Beast," and more recently in "Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire," "Cuckoo," "Zero Day," and "The Boy and the Heron."

Upcoming projects for Stevens include a reunion with director Adam Wingard for "Onslaught," set to release by A24 on September 4, and a role in Lauren Miller Rogan's "Babies," which will premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival. Stevens is represented by CAA, Julian Belfrage Associates, and Peikoff Mahan Law Office.
