£1.5m-rated Abdulmalik asks to leave Boreham Wood

Boreham Wood's forward, Abdul Abdulmalik, has requested to leave the club after Swedish side Djurgarden made an offer of £1.5 million. The 23-year-old Nigerian international has been attracting interest from Djurgarden, who previously made a £1 million bid for him. Manager Luke Garrard maintains that Abdulmalik is still part of Boreham Wood, following his absence from their recent 3-0 win over Forest Green.

In a statement, Abdulmalik expressed his readiness to face new challenges, stating that he aims to prove himself capable of reaching the top tier of football. This season, Abdulmalik had a breakout performance, netting 17 goals and assisting 10 times as Boreham Wood reached the National League play-off final. Djurgarden's offer, if accepted, would surpass the record fee for a fifth-tier player in England, set in 2012 when Leicester City paid £1 million for Jamie Vardy.

Abdulmalik, who started his career at Millwall's academy, has been recognized for his hard work and dedication, earning a call-up to the England U17 squad.
