Claude and Cowork now share what they know about you

Anthropic's Claude chatbot now shares user memories with Cowork, its all-purpose assistant. This new feature allows Claude and Cowork to access each other's knowledge, making their interactions more contextual and efficient. Memories generated from conversations with Cowork will also be available to the regular Claude chatbot, while memories created by users interacting with Claude will be accessible to Cowork.

Memory creation happens in real-time during chats, and it's now enabled by default for free, Pro, and Max tier users. However, sensitive topics like health, ethnicity, religion, politics, or gender identity won't be stored without explicit user consent. Users can control memory usage by pausing Claude's memory, using incognito chats, or manually deleting specific topics, but shared memories between Claude and Cowork cannot be separated.

Admins for Team and Enterprise customers can control the feature, and it will be available starting this Tuesday.
