Anwar: Amirudin tasked to work out Pakatan-BN alliance details for Melaka polls

Seremban, on August 25th — Pakatan Harapan (PH) election director Amirudin Shari has been given the authority to determine the specifics of a potential collaboration between PH and Barisan Nasional (BN) for the upcoming Melaka state election, disclosed PH chairman Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim. Anwar, also serving as the nation's prime minister, announced that Amirudin had been granted this responsibility.

Speaking to the press following his participation in the National Maulidur Rasul Celebration 1448/2026, Anwar clarified that their meeting was not about seat allocations for the Melaka election, but rather concerning the Malaysia Games (Sukma). He stated, "I met the Selangor menteri besar regarding Sukma. During the Games, when would there be time for politics?"

When asked about the prospect of cooperation between political parties in the Melaka polls, Anwar emphasized the importance of cooperation in everyday life and administration, stating, "Room for cooperation... in life, we must cooperate. This is all about cooperation." Following yesterday's confirmation by PH communications director and Communications Minister Fahmi Fadzil that Amirudin had met with Anwar the previous day, PH's committee to discuss the potential collaboration with BN for the Melaka election, led by Amirudin and PH secretary-general Saifuddin Nasution Ismail, was previously reported.
