Abdul El-Sayed distances himself from Hasan Piker
Popular left-wing streamer Hasan Piker drew stiff criticism from prominent Democrats on Monday after arguing that some Jewish Americans' support for Israel is "making antisemitism worse."
Hasan Piker, a well-known left-wing streamer, sparked controversy with his recent remarks on Israel and antisemitism. The comments drew strong reactions from prominent Democrats. Abdul El-Sayed, a Democratic Michigan Senate candidate, distanced himself from Piker, stating that "nobody speaks for this campaign besides me and my campaign spokespeople."
El-Sayed's campaign asserted that El-Sayed stands against any rhetoric that puts the Jewish community at risk. Piker's remarks have divided Michigan Democrats, and Republican nominee Mike Rogers attempted to link Piker's comments to El-Sayed. El-Sayed addressed the rise in hateful rhetoric at a press conference, condemning the antisemitic remarks made by Piker and others.
