Offinso-Anomangye road to be completed and handed over by October 2027 -Resident Engineer

The Offinso-Anomangye road project in the Ashanti Region, set to be completed by October 31, 2027, has seen significant progress according to Engineer Dennis Kusi Boateng, the Resident Engineer for Rango Construction Company Ltd. Rango Construction is overseeing the widening of the road, an endeavor backed by the Government of Ghana, which is investing over GH¢3 billion in the project to provide extra capacity.

During an inspection of the site in Kumasi, Boateng revealed that challenges such as delayed payments to affected individuals, damage to completed works by artisans and shop owners, and obstruction by two structures, alongside recalcitrant spare parts dealers, have slowed down the progress. The contractor has engaged the Suame Police and Municipal Assembly, but minimal action has been taken, necessitating a wait until the spare parts are cleared.

Despite these obstacles, the government has approved a 4-lane configuration instead of the originally planned 3-lane design, enhancing the road's capacity. Minister Agbodza of Roads and Highways emphasized that no one is adversely affected by this change. Additionally, arrangements are underway to compensate affected individuals, enabling work to continue unimpeded.

The Minister appealed to traders and residents to safeguard ongoing works and assured the public of the government's unwavering commitment to completing all abandoned and ongoing road projects in Kumasi and the Ashanti Region to improve mobility and stimulate economic growth. The Ashanti Regional Minister, Dr. Frank Amoakohene, commended the Roads and Highways Minister for the efforts to bring all contractors back on site and assured that the Regional Security Council would collaborate with national security to resolve any security-related issues, paving the way for timely project completion.
