Drone attack kills 2 children, burns logistics hub in Russia’s Krasnodar

In Krasnodar, southern Russia, a drone attack killed two children and injured nine others, including seven children, on Monday night, according to Governor Veniamin Kondratyev. The attack targeted a private childcare center, causing debris to fall on nearby apartment buildings and igniting fires in warehouses. Kondratyev reported the incident on the Telegram messaging app.

Meanwhile, in Ukraine, a Russian drone strike on the outskirts of Kharkiv killed three people, a governor reported on Telegram. Ukraine is requesting additional interceptor missiles from the United States and Europe to defend against such attacks, as it enters its fifth year of conflict with Russia.

The drone attack also damaged a logistics hub belonging to Russian online retailer Ozon, as reported by the company on Telegram. In another incident near Krasnodar in Russia's Nevinnovysk, a chemical production area in the Stavropol region, a drone attack on an industrial region was thwarted, according to Governor Vladimir Vladimirov, who shared the news on Telegram.

As the war waged by Russia since February 2022 encroaches closer to ordinary Russians, online commerce in Russia has become a target. In a recent statement published on Saturday, Russian President Vladimir Putin commented on Ukraine's actions, expressing concern that Kyiv had "opened a Pandora's box" by striking Russian economic targets. He warned that Moscow would retaliate against Ukraine's "most sensitive economic sectors."
