Bagbin to admit Minority’s GoldBod motion but says debate must wait until after recall

Afenyo-Markin expresses conviction in Bawumia's Minority leadership

Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, the flagbearer for the NPP in the 2028 election, has conveyed his complete trust in the leadership of the Minority Party within the House of Representatives, as announced by Minority Leader Alexander Afenyo-Markin. This declaration came following a meeting held at Bawumia's residence in Accra, aimed at addressing party matters and the agenda before the House resumes for an emergency session.

During the meeting, Bawumia warned the Minority Party against the potential distraction arising from the financial losses of over $1.7 billion incurred by GoldBod and the Bank of Ghana under the Domestic Gold Purchase Programme. The former Vice President emphasized his unwavering confidence in Afenyo-Markin's leadership and urged the Minority caucus to remain steadfast on this critical issue.

Bawumia also encouraged the Minority Party to utilize the established rules of Parliament to hold the government accountable for the financial mismanagement. Afenyo-Markin reported that he assured Bawumia that the issue of financial accountability would remain a top priority for the caucus as Parliament reconvenes for further deliberations.
