Minority seeks full reconciliation of IMF, GoldBod accounts

The Minority in Ghana's Parliament has urged the Ghana Gold Board (GoldBod) to appear before a Parliamentary Inquiry to fully account for the losses identified in the International Monetary Fund (IMF) report on the Bank of Ghana's (BoG) Domestic Gold Purchase Programme (DGPP). This demand is aimed at reconciling the losses with GoldBod's own audited financial statements and establishing the facts.

The Minority Leader, Patricia Appiagyei, emphasized that the IMF's assessment, an independent and internationally respected institution, contained the relevant figures, not figures fabricated by the Minority. She stressed that the matter was a legitimate exercise of parliamentary oversight due to the programme's significant public resource involvement.

GoldBod's CEO, Sammy Gyamfi, has disputed the claims, asserting that the IMF's reported loss pertains to the BoG's DGPP and not GoldBod's financial performance. He claimed GoldBod recorded a significant surplus in 2025. The Minority Leader, Appiagyei, also rejected personal characterizations made during the exchanges, stating they were false and rejected out of hand.

She reiterated that parliamentary scrutiny should reflect accountability and civility, not conflict.
