Amotekun Corps foil kidnap operation, rescue woman, children in Ondo

The Amotekun Corps, a security network established in Ondo State, successfully thwarted a kidnapping attempt and rescued a woman along with her two children. The commander of Amotekun in the state, Adetunji Adeleye, disclosed this development. According to Adeleye, the swift distress call received from the community played a crucial role in the rapid arrival of Amotekun personnel at the scene within five minutes of receiving the alert.

During the operation, the corps apprehended 10 suspected criminals, including those involved in kidnapping, armed robbery, motorcycle theft, and church burglaries across various parts of the state. Adeleye highlighted the importance of collaboration between Amotekun and the local Fulani community, which significantly aided the security operatives in identifying some of the kidnappers among the suspects.

The parade of the apprehended suspects showcased individuals like 25-year-old Joseph and 20-year-old Friday, who were accused of stealing and reselling stolen motorcycles, with newly acquired motorcycles selling for as much as N70,000 each. Speaking on the broader security situation, Adeleye reported a notable decline in criminal activities across Ondo State.

He attributed this positive trend to the collaborative efforts of all security agencies working diligently to eradicate criminality in the region.
