Seven students arrested for trading stolen bikes for ganja in A.P.’s Krishna district

Seven students from Punadipadu village and surrounding areas in India's Krishna district have been arrested by police in the Kankipadu district, according to Gannavaram Deputy Superintendent of Police K. Dharmendra. The students were allegedly involved in a scheme to procure ganja, or cannabis, in exchange for stolen bikes in the Visakhapatnam Agency area and along the Andhra-Odisha border.

According to DSP Dharmendra, the students targeted tribal villages, posing as picnickers to procure the contraband. One bike worth ₹1.50 lakh could be exchanged for just 5 kilograms of ganja. The arrested students, who are degree first and second year and intermediate students, allegedly enjoyed the ganja with friends. They would often tell their parents they were going to Araku for a trip, but in reality were visiting tribal habitations to procure ganja.

Police have seized four bikes, about 7 kilograms of ganja, and mobile phones from the accused. The authorities are trying to trace the suppliers, and police are urging parents to monitor their children's movements and activities.
