France to deliver interceptor missiles to Ukraine after new Russian strikes

Following a series of devastating Russian strikes, French President Emmanuel Macron announced on Saturday that Paris would deliver new interceptor missiles to Ukraine. Ukraine's air defenses are stretched thin, and Macron emphasized the importance of providing the nation with all necessary means to safeguard its airspace and thwart Russian aggression.

Macron informed Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky of this strengthening of support during a telephone conversation. Zelensky echoed Macron's sentiments, expressing the urgency of air defense and confirming the delivery of the latest French equipment and missiles. The two leaders agreed to expedite such delivery. The meeting of the Coalition of the Willing, a group led by France and Britain, will take place on Monday, Ukraine's Independence Day, to intensify pressure on Moscow and halt the invasion.

The coalition meeting will be co-chaired by Macron and German Chancellor Friedrich Merz along with the new British Prime Minister Andy Burnham. Around 10 leaders, including European Council chief Antonio Costa, are expected to attend the meeting in Kyiv.
