France to send interceptor missiles to Ukraine after Russian strikes

Ukraine and Russia continue to exchange drone strikes, targeting each other's oil and economic infrastructure. Russia's Defence Ministry claims to have shot down hundreds of Ukrainian drones, with at least six people killed in the recent attacks. In retaliation, Russia struck Kyiv with ballistic missiles and launched drones at other cities.

One day after a deadly strike on a Ukrainian shopping center killed 16, Ukraine retaliated by hitting a Russian oil refinery. Russian forces have intensified missile attacks on Kyiv, exploiting Ukraine's limited supply of US-made Patriot air defense interceptors. Ukrainian President Zelenskyy reported one death and one injury from the latest missile strike on railway infrastructure in Kyiv.

Russia's defence ministry confirmed the attack on a locomotive depot. Another Russian missile strike in the Kyiv region killed two people, while a drone attack in the Zaporizhzhia region claimed four lives and wounded 15. Ukrainian drone strikes also killed four people and wounded 15 in the Zaporizhzhia region. The United Nations reported that Kyiv, one of the hardest-hit cities in July, saw at least 54 civilians killed and 202 wounded in recent attacks.

In the southern Russian region of Krasnodar, two children and two adults were killed in a missile strike on the Sea of Azov port town of Yeysk. In Belgorod region, two people were killed and 13 wounded in Ukrainian attacks. In Luhansk province, two civilians, including a 16-year-old boy, were killed and nine more wounded. The latest attacks followed a wave of Ukrainian drone strikes on Friday, including an attack on a shopping center in Kryvyi Rih that left 16 people dead and 130 injured.

Russian online news outlet Astra reported that the Novokuibyshevsk oil refinery in Samara region had been set ablaze in a strike, some 1,000 kilometers from the front line. Ukraine also targeted Russia's online retailer Ozon, halting work at its Samara region logistics centre in Chapayevsk.
