Pakistan’s move to summon US diplomat a sign of its frustration over Gor’s J&K comment: MEA

In a move that highlights India's frustration with Pakistan, the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) stated on Friday that Pakistan's decision to summon the US Ambassador Sergio Gor as a sign of Islamabad's annoyance over Gor's assertion that Jammu & Kashmir (J&K) is a significant part of India. MEA spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal reiterated, "Jammu, Kashmir and Ladakh are integral and indivisible parts of India.

Pakistan had summoned Gor and lodged a protest, arguing that his remarks about J&K were "factually incorrect" and "contradictory" to the US' long-standing position on Kashmir. Gor, a close confidant of President Donald Trump and the US special envoy to South and Central Asia, met with J&K Chief Minister Omar Abdullah, signaling engagement with the UT's first elected government post the 2019 constitutional changes.

This visit, which is the first by a serving US Ambassador to the Valley since 2019, is seen as a reinforcement of Trump's approach to Kashmir – viewing it as an "internal matter" of India.
