2027: I’ll give Atiku, opposition high BP, make them suffer crisis – Wike

Nyesom Wike, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, has openly stated his intention to subject the opposition candidates, particularly Atiku Abubakar from the African Democratic Congress (ADC), to high blood pressure before the 2027 elections. During a recent inspection of infrastructure projects in Abuja, Wike made the controversial remark, emphasizing his belief that there is no functioning opposition party in Nigeria.

Wike dismissed allegations of opposition leadership, stating that the previous People's Democratic Party (PDP) has faced significant internal crises, rendering it incapable of serving as the leading opposition party. He expressed indifference towards the opposition's feelings, emphasizing his sole responsibility to ensure that they endure continuous hardship and stress. Wike stated, "My job is to make them feel unwell all day because they will have high blood pressure."

The minister further vowed to perpetuate crises for the opposition, asserting that this approach is his duty. He reiterated, "I’m not here to make them perform well. And that is what we are doing to them. So, we have to be patient. It does not give me any headache. Everyone understands now what they're going through, and I'm going to make things even harder for them."
