The Hindu impact: Garbage spot cleared near government school in J.C. Nagar

After The Hindu reported foul odors emanating from garbage dumped near a government school in J.C. Nagar, Bengaluru Solid Waste Management officials have cleared the waste and moved garbage trucks 100 meters away. Minister for School Education and Literacy, Madhu Bangarappa, wrote to the Greater Bengaluru Authority (GBA) Chief Commissioner, M. Maheshwar Rao, instructing him to ensure waste is not dumped or trucks parked near the school.

The letter warned of potential health risks for children, including sickness from leachate smell and rodent infestations. Ayesha, principal of the affected school, pledged to monitor residents and workers to prevent further dumping or parking issues.
