A Jewish settler group encountered resistance from Palestinians in a West Bank village after embarking on an unauthorized hike, according to Army Radio on Friday. The group had not obtained authorization from IDF forces before entering the territory, a security source revealed to Army Radio. The village lies approximately a few hundred meters from an unauthorized settlement outpost, as reported by Army Radio.

Reports suggest that more than a hundred Palestinians retaliated against the settlers by hurling stones at them following the group's initiation of a fire in a Palestinian home. Video footage emerged online, depicting a building ablaze within the village, which was purportedly ignited by the settler group. Army Radio subsequently confirmed, based on a security official's statement, that the settlers had indeed set fire to a Palestinian home within the village.

Subsequently, the IDF intervened to remove the group from the area. During this extraction, an 18-year-old Palestinian was fatally shot after allegedly hurling a rock at point-blank range towards a civilian security coordinator who was among the first responders on the scene, as reported by Army Radio. Furthermore, a 65-year-old Palestinian sustained a gunshot wound, according to Army Radio. Neither the hiking party nor the IDF personnel sustained any injuries during the incident.

An investigation into the matter has been initiated by the police, according to a security source speaking to Army Radio. Earlier this week, IDF forces detained several Palestinians in the West Bank city of Hebron who were attempting to confront Israeli soldiers, Ynet reported. The IDF spokesperson cited an altercation between Palestinians and Israeli settlers who were exchanging stones, and the security forces responded by opening fire on two attackers and making several arrests, as reported by Ynet.
