Umahi’s son campaigns for Ebonyi LG chairmanship

Osborn Umahi, the son of Ebonyi State's Minister of Works, David Umahi, is running as the All Progressives Congress candidate for the Ohaozara Local Government Area's chairmanship election. He addressed supporters on Monday, August 17, at the St Margaret Umahi Pavilion, Uburu, as they gathered to express their backing for his candidacy.

Umahi had secured the party's nomination and interest forms, eventually becoming the party's candidate for the Ohaozara chairmanship election. According to a statement from the Minister of Works’ Senior Special Assistant on Media, Francis Nwaze, the campaign signified a surge in support for Umahi, who is described as an engineer, financial expert, and seasoned leader.

The statement highlighted his capability to bring purposeful and responsive leadership to the region if elected. The atmosphere during the campaign was viewed as an expression of residents' confidence in their own, anticipating a new leadership chapter. As the election date, August 22, 2026, approaches, the focus is shifting from the candidate's acceptability to securing victory.
