Minister Umahi’s son gets flag as APC chairmanship candidate in Ebonyi

The All Progressives Congress (APC) has announced Mr. Osborne Umahi, son of Ebonyi State's Minister of Works, Sen. David Umahi, as its candidate for the Ohaozara Local Government Area Chairman seat. The Ebonyi State Independent Electoral Commission (ENSIEC) has set August 22 for the Local Government Elections, including Chairmanship and Councillorship positions.

During a large rally in Uburu, Ohaozara Local Government Area, Governor Francis Nwifuru, represented by his Deputy Mrs. Patricia Obila, bestowed the party flag upon Umahi. Governor Nwifuru commended Umahi as a "credible force" and expressed satisfaction with the enthusiastic crowd at the rally. He urged APC supporters to maintain the same level of support on election day.

The Governor also praised the Minister of Works for his contributions to the development of Ebonyi and his national achievements, predicting that his son would continue to excel in public service if elected. Mrs. Grace Umezuruike, the Secretary to the State Government, called upon the electorate to support candidates who can build upon the current administration's accomplishments.

She commended the people for enthusiastically endorsing Umahi and urged them to remain committed to the APC during and after the council election. A former council chairperson, Mrs Nkechineyre Iyioku, noted the large crowd at the rally, attributing it to the popularity of the APC and the electorate's faith in Nwifuru's administration.

She also highlighted the numerous projects and achievements of the Minister of Works as reasons for the public's backing. APC State Chairman, Chief Stanley Okoro-Emegha, represented by his Deputy Mr. Alphonsus Nwali, voiced confidence in the party's prospects in Ohaozara, describing the local government area as an opposition-free zone.

Okoro-Emegha called upon the electorate to show their support for the APC through high voter turnout and votes on election day. Mr. Umahi, upon accepting the party's flag, thanked the people of Ohaozara for their support and pledged to provide inclusive and people-centric governance if elected, promising to prioritize the needs of all communities and work towards the area's development.
