Russian missile attack kills 10 in Ukraine's Kharkiv region, officials say

A Russian missile attack on Tuesday killed 10 people in a village in Ukraine's northeastern Kharkiv region, Ukrainian authorities reported. The assault targeted a busy intersection in Pechenihy, a spot featuring a post office and stores, flanked by residential buildings. President Volodymyr Zelenskiy shared photos of a wrecked building, cars ablaze, and emergency workers carrying victims on stretchers via X.

The attack left 17 individuals injured, according to Oleh Syniehubov, the governor of the adjacent region. Russia has yet to release a public statement regarding the strike. The damage inflicted on the village included 10 private residences, a cafe, a post office, a store, and at least seven vehicles, reported Oleh Syniehubov on Telegram.

Ukraine's Prosecutor General's Office initially indicated that Russia may have employed two small Banderol cruise missiles, though this assessment remains preliminary. A local official told public broadcaster Suspilne that the strikes struck at the heart of the village, where the cafe, post office, and shops were situated.
