RB Leipzig eye sensational Christopher Nkunku return

RB Leipzig are reportedly investigating a potential return of their former standout player, Christopher Nkunku, from AC Milan. The German club's interest in the French midfielder has emerged during the final weeks of the transfer window, with sources indicating that RB Leipzig is actively exploring the move. Transfermarkt, Sky, and Italian media outlets have all reported concrete interest from Leipzig.

Nkunku departed Leipzig for Chelsea in 2023 for approximately €60 million. Despite an initial fee of €37 million when he transferred to AC Milan last summer, his time in Italy proved disappointing, and he has since moved on to AC Milan permanently. Now, just one year after his move to Milan, the Rossoneri are reportedly willing to let him go.

Transfermarkt reports that AC Milan is asking for around €35 million for Nkunku, which would allow Leipzig to secure a player they once sold for a record-breaking €60 million at a significantly lower price. However, the German club is reportedly considering a loan arrangement with an option to buy rather than committing immediately to a permanent transfer. Milan, on the other hand, seems to prefer a straight sale to meet their asking price.

At AC Milan, Nkunku contributed 11 goals in 35 appearances last season. However, he reportedly failed to impress new head coach Ruben Amorim, leading to his potential departure. The 28-year-old midfielder is currently open to a move from Milan, as he looks to find new opportunities and fulfill his potential.
