Woman fails to pay 6k baht taxi fare in Udon Thani, tests positive for meth

A woman from Bueng Kan, Thailand, hired a taxi for 6,000 baht to travel from Bangkok to Udon Thani on August 15. She arrived at the National Sports University without the cash to pay the driver, Narong, who was 57 years old. Police were alerted to the unpaid fare at the university's campus around 6 pm. Narong explained that the woman didn't have the agreed-upon funds and attempted to contact her relative for payment, allowing her about an hour.

Unfortunately, she couldn't reach her relative. The driver had already spent 800 baht on gas and 30 baht on tolls for the journey. The woman, identified as Aom, 24 years old, said she had planned to visit her younger brother at the university and had agreed to pay the fare upon arrival. However, university staff couldn't locate her brother, and she was unable to contact him after waiting for approximately one hour.

Police questioned Aom, learned of her day without food and lack of money, and discovered a chat message showing what appeared to be crystal methamphetamine on August 12. Aom denied using the drug and denied that the substance in the photo was hers. After retrieving her phone, she broke it by tossing it away. Police tested Aom's urine, which tested positive for methamphetamine, leading to a charge of using a Category 1 narcotic. Additionally, a fraud charge was added due to the unpaid taxi fare.
