Veteran Bengali filmmaker Raja Sen in critical condition

Veteran Bengali filmmaker Raja Sen is currently in a critical condition at the state-run SSKM Hospital, according to industry sources. The 70-year-old director, known for his works Atmiyo Sajan and Laboratory, has been under close observation by medical staff. His critical state has been attributed to a series of health complications that have plagued him for several years.

Raja Sen's health issues began when he sustained a serious back injury while filming his movie Maya Mridanga. Although the injury was initially not considered serious, it later affected his mobility. Earlier this year, Sen developed weakness in his lower body, leading to the discovery of a complex neurological problem. He underwent major surgery in February to address this issue.

Despite showing some improvement post-surgery, Sen's health has recently taken a turn for the worse, causing worry among his family and colleagues within the Bengali film industry. He is currently receiving ventilator support.
