Harrison Ford Will Appear in New Indiana Jones Attraction at Walt Disney World

Harrison Ford is set to appear as the model for a new Indiana Jones attraction at Walt Disney World's Animal Kingdom, according to a recent announcement made at D23. This will be the first time in Disney theme park history that the attraction will use the actor's actual likeness and voice. Previously, the Indiana Jones Adventure at Disneyland and Tokyo DisneySea did not have access to Ford's likeness, making this new attraction particularly significant.

The attraction, named Indiana Jones and the Myth of the Jade Serpent, will be a part of the new Tropical Americas section of Disney's Animal Kingdom. This section replaces the Dinoland, U.S.A. area, previously known for the Dinosaur ride (formerly Countdown to Extinction). The new Indiana Jones adventure will be set in the 1950s, before the events of "Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull," and involves searching for a mysterious artifact in South America.

The underworld in this attraction is guarded by a massive, feathered snake. Other attractions in the Tropical Americas section include an "Encanto" dark ride with the original cast and a carousel featuring Disney's iconic animal characters. The timeline for the opening of Tropical Americas is still undecided, with no information on whether it will open in phases or all at once.
