Ukraine launches one of the largest aerial attacks on Russia yet

Ukraine launched a massive aerial assault on Russia on Sunday, resulting in at least six fatalities and causing significant damage. Russian officials claimed they destroyed 822 Ukrainian drones overnight. Around 600 drones were initially detected heading towards Moscow, with a third of them brought down over the city itself. An 83-year-old man was killed when a Ukrainian drone struck a private residence in the Moscow region. The attack also set fire to a Wildberries warehouse in Podolsk.

The assault extended to Russia's southwestern Rostov region, where a drone barrage killed five people, damaged homes, a railway station, and ignited a forest fire. Kyiv has significantly escalated its attacks this year, employing long-range missiles and swarms of drones against Russian military industries and energy facilities. These strikes have also targeted large Wildberries distribution centers, causing millions of dollars worth of merchandise to burn, bringing the conflict closer to the Russian public.

A Russian missile strike in Ukraine's Kryvyi Rih claimed two lives and injured 14 others, according to Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy. Additionally, a home in the Zaporizhzhia region was hit by a Russian missile, resulting in the deaths of a man and a woman. Fires broke out in Kyiv following these strikes, injuring six more individuals. Zelenskyy emphasized that Russia's missile attacks often target civilian infrastructure wherever their ballistic missiles reach.
