Selangor key to toppling PH at federal level, says Sanusi

Selangor holds the potential to dismantle Pakatan Harapan (PH) both at the state and federal levels, according to Sanusi Nor, the Perikatan Nasional (PN) election director. Speaking at a Selangor PAS election machinery gathering in Tanjung Karang, Nor emphasized the state's significant economic role in the nation. He warned that if PH loses in Selangor, it will inevitably lose at the federal level as well.

This bold claim comes as PH secured 32 out of 56 state seats in the 2023 Selangor election, while PN captured 22 and the remaining two went to BN. BN subsequently joined forces with PN to form the state government. Nor also urged the public to evaluate PH based on its actual performance in governance, not just on political rhetoric.

"Show us what they have achieved while in power," he urged. Analysts have previously suggested that the Barisan Nasional-Perikatan Nasional alliance could potentially challenge PH's stronghold in Selangor, especially if they can successfully unite Malay votes. In a separate development, Selangor PKR Youth deputy chief Shahrul Adnan recently called on PH leadership to reconsider their alliance with BN following their collaboration in the recent Negeri Sembilan state election.
