PAS wants Selangor to be launchpad for toppling PH, says Sanusi

Perikatan Nasional (PN) election director Datuk Seri Muhammad Sanusi Md Nor has stated that Selangor is the ideal starting point for defeating Pakatan Harapan (PH) in the upcoming 16th general election, according to a report by Free Malaysia Today (FMT). Sanusi, who is also Kedah Menteri Besar, emphasized that Selangor is a key target due to its economic significance.

He stated that if PH fails in Selangor, it is likely to fail at the federal level as well. The PN leader urged voters to evaluate PH's performance based on its actual achievements during governance, rather than its political rhetoric. In the 2023 state election, PH secured 32 out of Selangor's 56 state seats, while PN won 22 and Barisan Nasional (BN) took the remaining two.

Following these results, both PH and BN formed the state government. Analysts have previously suggested that a closer collaboration between BN and PN could pose a challenge to PH's dominance in Selangor, especially if it leads to a stronger Malay vote consolidation. Recently, Selangor PKR Youth deputy chief Shahrul Adnan called upon the state PH leadership to reconsider its political alliance with BN in light of the BN-PN cooperation witnessed in the Aug 1 Negeri Sembilan state election.
