Selangor key to toppling PH at federal level, says Sanusi

PN election director Sanusi Nor stated at a Selangor PAS election machinery gathering in Tanjung Karang that PAS aims to begin the process of removing Pakatan Harapan (PH) from power in Selangor and subsequently at the federal level during the 16th general election. He emphasized Selangor's significance as a vital economic hub for the nation, suggesting that if PH were to lose in Selangor, they would inevitably lose at the federal level as well.

Sanusi, who also serves as Kedah's menteri besar, called on the public to evaluate PH's performance based on tangible outcomes rather than mere political rhetoric. He urged citizens to consider PH's government achievements compared to those of previous administrations and requested concrete examples of what PH has accomplished while in power.

Analysts have previously pointed out that the alliance between Barisan Nasional (BN) and Perikatan Nasional (PN) could potentially challenge PH's stronghold in Selangor, particularly if they manage to unite Malay voters. In the 2023 Selangor state election, PH secured 32 out of the 56 state seats, while PN won 22, with BN claiming the remaining two seats.

Following the coalition's success in the Negeri Sembilan state election on Aug 1, Selangor PKR Youth deputy chief Shahrul Adnan suggested that PH leadership should reconsider its political alliance with BN.
