PM Modi, President Murmu pay tribute to Atal Bihari Vajpayee on death anniversary

On the death anniversary of former Prime Minister and Bharat Ratna recipient Atal Bihari Vajpayee, Prime Minister Narendra Modi paid floral tribute to the esteemed leader at his memorial, Sadaiv Atal, in New Delhi. The ceremony was attended by President Droupadi Murmu, Vice President CP Radhakrishnan, BJP National President Nitin Nabin, and other prominent leaders.

Vajpayee, an illustrious political figure, held the position of Prime Minister on three separate occasions. His first tenure lasted briefly in 1996, followed by a longer term from 1998 to 1999, and finally from 1999 to 2004. Recognized for his exceptional oratory skills, parliamentary contributions, and statesmanship, Vajpayee was a founding member of the Bharatiya Janata Party and played a crucial role in shaping its political trajectory.

During his time as Prime Minister, India made significant strides in infrastructure development, diplomacy, economic policy, and national security. Apart from his political career, Vajpayee was also a celebrated Hindi poet and held widespread respect across political spectrums for his political career and public life.

Vajpayee received the prestigious Bharat Ratna, India's highest civilian honor, in 2015 for his invaluable contribution to the nation. He breathed his last on August 16, 2018, at the age of 93. The death anniversary of this iconic leader is observed annually to pay homage to his life, political legacy, and enduring impact on the nation.
