Lekhwiya joins Egypt’s Search and Rescue Team ceremony

A delegation from Egypt's Internal Security Force, known as Lekhwiya, attended a ceremony to announce that the country's search and rescue team from the General Directorate of Civil Protection had achieved international recognition. The team had secured the "Medium" classification from the International Search and Rescue Advisory Group (INSARAG), which is part of the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA).

The delegation was led by Lekhwiya's Assistant Commander for Administration and Supply, Staff Brigadier Mubarak Sherida al-Kaabi. This accomplishment was the result of collaborative efforts between Lekhwiya and the Qatari International Search and Rescue Group. The Qatari team played a crucial role in training and qualifying the Egyptian team in accordance with internationally approved standards.

The ceremony was attended by Egypt's Assistant Minister of Interior, Major-General Amr Mustafa El-Baily, along with security officials from both nations and representatives from INSARAG. Prior to the announcement, Brigadier al-Kaabi met with El-Baily to discuss security training and rescue cooperation, and to explore avenues for further enhancing their partnership.

During their meeting, El-Baily praised the Qatari International Search and Rescue Group for their role as an internationally accredited mentor in training and certifying the Egyptian team. He also stressed the significance of ongoing collaboration in bolstering the joint Arab search and rescue system.
