Barcelona agree £65m deal to sign Rodri from Man City

Barcelona have reached an agreement to sign Spanish midfielder Rodri from Manchester City for approximately £65 million. The 30-year-old, who was awarded the Ballon d'Or in 2024, is set to commit to a four-year contract with the Spanish champions. The transfer is anticipated to be finalized in the forthcoming days. During his seven-season tenure at City, Rodri made 298 appearances, contributing to the club's success and earning numerous titles, including four Premier League championships, two FA Cups, three EFL Cups, and the Champions League in 2022-23.

Despite suffering from a serious knee injury and a hamstring issue, Rodri returned to peak form during the 2024 World Cup, leading Spain to victory and garnering the tournament's player of the year award. In his time at City, Rodri amassed 12 major accolades. Manchester City initially rejected Barcelona's initial offer of £38.5 million for Rodri, who was set to enter the final year of his contract at the Etihad Stadium.
