Barcelona agree £65m deal to sign Rodri from Man City

Barcelona have reached an agreement to sign Rodri from Manchester City for approximately £65 million, according to recent reports. The 30-year-old Spanish captain, who was awarded the Ballon d'Or in 2024, is expected to commit to a four-year contract with the Catalan giants. The transfer is anticipated to be finalized within the next few days.

Rodri made a significant impact during his seven seasons at Manchester City, starting in 2019 following his move from Atletico Madrid for a club record £62.8 million. He played in 298 matches across those trophy-winning years. However, Rodri's availability has been somewhat affected by injuries, missing much of the 2024-25 season due to a serious knee injury and parts of the previous season due to a hamstring issue.

Despite these setbacks, Rodri recovered well and played a pivotal role in Spain's World Cup triumph last summer, where he was named player of the tournament. The City star leaves the club with an impressive tally of 12 major honors, including four Premier League titles, two FA Cups, three EFL Cups, and the Champions League in 2022-23.
