Barcelona agree £65m deal to sign Rodri from Man City

Barcelona have reached an agreement to sign Spain's national team captain Rodri from Manchester City for approximately £65 million. The 30-year-old, who was awarded the Ballon d'Or in 2024, is expected to sign a four-year contract with the Spanish champions. The transfer is anticipated to be finalized within the next few days.

Rodri played 298 matches for City across seven successful seasons following his arrival from Atletico Madrid in 2019 for a then-record £62.8 million. However, he missed a significant portion of the 2024-25 season due to a serious knee injury, and parts of last season were affected by a hamstring issue. Nevertheless, he returned to top form at the 2024 World Cup, leading Spain to their second consecutive title and earning the player of the tournament award.

At Manchester City, Rodri has won 12 major titles, including four Premier League championships, two FA Cups, three EFL Cups, and the 2022-23 Champions League.
