Asyraf Wajdi suspends MARA staff after eight students allege sexual harassment misconduct

MARA, the Malaysian authority for technical and vocational education, has suspended a staff member following allegations of sexual harassment against at least eight students at one of its institutions, according to Datuk Dr Asyraf Wajdi Dusuki, MARA chairman. The decision was made to allow a thorough investigation without interference, as the matter was brought to light through direct messages from the alleged victims.

Despite Dr. Wajdi's efforts to encourage the students to file police reports, they preferred to complain directly to the MARA management. Dr. Wajdi emphasized that MARA will not tolerate any form of misconduct and promised tough actions, such as dismissals, against those involved. He urged students to report any misconduct without fear, particularly sexual harassment, stating that MARA will take stern action against the perpetrators.
