Anwar announces additional RM1m for every parliamentary constituency

PM Anwar Ibrahim announced an additional RM1 million for each parliamentary constituency across Malaysia to expedite direct assistance, enhance basic facilities, and tackle critical grassroots requirements. This allocation is intended to ensure development funds reach communities most in need, particularly those grappling with poverty and recurrent floods.

Speaking during his concluding remarks at the 2026 PKR National Congress, Anwar emphasized his commitment to helping the impoverished and vowed to address their issues, particularly those exacerbated by annual flooding. The government acknowledged criticism surrounding fund allocations for MPs but affirmed that funding for the general populace had not been diminished.

Instead, Anwar vowed to distribute an extra RM1 million to every constituency, directly benefiting the populace. He argued that funding should be based on community needs rather than political considerations. Anwar highlighted that Kelantan, Terengganu, Perlis, and Kedah had received their maximum allocations under the current administration, with projects for water supply, electricity, and flood mitigation successfully implemented.

When confronted with personal attacks, Anwar expressed minimal interest in responding, stating that his focus remains on productive work. He also criticized claims that some individuals had been offered positions in government-linked companies without their consent, asserting that people should not deny their expertise and potential contributions to government-linked companies.
