Anwar announces additional RM1m for every parliamentary constituency

KUALA LUMPUR, Aug 16 — Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim has announced an additional RM1 million allocation for each parliamentary constituency across the country. The funds will be directed towards addressing urgent needs and providing immediate assistance to the public. The move is aimed at expediting the delivery of welfare, basic amenities, and community support without bureaucratic delays.

Anwar emphasized that the allocation underscores the Madani Government's dedication to strengthening grassroots assistance. The additional funds will augment existing social protection programs, such as the Sumbangan Tunai Rahmah (STR) and Sumbangan Asas Rahmah (SARA), totalling RM16 billion. The Prime Minister reiterated the government's commitment to eradicating poverty and easing the cost of living, noting that the hardcore poverty rate has been reduced to 0.09 per cent.

Anwar called on party leaders and grassroots members to disseminate information about the initiatives, ensuring assistance reaches those in need while benefiting all communities, including both B40 and M40 groups.
