Lengkap with a call to expand the announcement further over the next two months, Malaysia's Deputy Finance Minister Amir Hamzah Azizan shared details of forthcoming upgrades to the diesel fuel subsidy system. Among the proposed changes are a simplification of the application procedure, extension of eligibility criteria for registered vehicles, and the transfer of the subsidy quota to the closest family member.

As the government seeks to streamline the distribution process and ensure substantial impact on the populace, Hamzah Azizan stated that the upcoming budget announcement will provide further insight into these improvements, particularly regarding execution and eligibility requirements.

In Sabah, approximately 49,000 out of 120,000 eligible vehicle owners have already submitted applications for subsidies exceeding 300 liters. However, only around 49,000 eligible vehicle owners have registered for the subsidy, indicating a significant number of potential applicants yet to come forward. The Deputy Finance Minister urged eligible owners in Sabah to apply promptly, as the necessary arrangements for applications and fuel station transactions have been put in place.

To help those less familiar with the technology, the Finance Ministry is collaborating with the National Treasury Fund (LHDN), Bandar Transformation Centre (UTC), and oil companies to provide continuous guidance on the application process at fuel stations and other relevant venues.
