Security forces kill 7 terrorists in IBO in Balochistan's Kharan: state media

Security forces conducted an intelligence-based operation (IBO) in Kharan, a district of Balochistan's province, resulting in the death of seven terrorists, according to state media. The operation, named Operation Radd-ul-Fitna 3, took place in the Lajay area of Lajay district. The security forces recovered weapons, ammunition, two vehicles, and a motorcycle from the hideouts of the deceased terrorists, reported Pakistan TV.

Federal Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi commended the security forces for their successful operation, acknowledging their professional capabilities. The Ministry of Interior conveyed in a statement to X that the achievements by the security forces in maintaining peace in Balochistan are commendable, with the assurance that such operations would continue until the last terrorist is eliminated.

In a similar operation on Saturday, security forces killed 10 terrorists and injured many others in Shor Pard, another district of Balochistan. Furthermore, at least 18 terrorists were killed in Surab district, including eight from a premature detonation. The military's media affairs wing reported these figures on Wednesday.

Radio Pakistan earlier this week disclosed that five terrorists, including a key commander, were killed in an IBO in the Sarkini and Chedgi areas of Panjgur district. These operations are part of a series of actions taken by Balochistan in response to security challenges prevalent in the region. The Pakistan Institute for Conflict and Security Studies (PICSS) released a monthly security assessment on July 31, noting that Balochistan experienced the most significant deterioration in security conditions in the country that month.

The assessment revealed that the overall death toll in Balochistan increased by 241% from June to July, rising from 109 to 372. Security personnel deaths climbed from six in June to 62 in July, marking a staggering 933% increase. Terrorist deaths surged from 75 to 238, while civilian deaths surged by 93%, from 28 to 54. Notably, 18 members of peace committees also fell victim to the security forces.
