Aminuddin says he’ll take responsibility, ready to quit PKR Negeri Sembilan role after polls loss

National Congress of Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR) concluded on August 16, 2022, in Melaka. Former Negeri Sembilan Chief Minister Datuk Seri Aminuddin Harun revealed his intention to resign as the chairman of the Negeri Sembilan State Leadership Council (MPN) after the state elections. Aminuddin concurred with the six PKR branch leaders' request that the party leadership reassess its position in light of the recent state election results.

According to the party, PKR only secured two of the 15 state assembly seats contested in the Negeri Sembilan state election on August 1. Aminuddin conceded to the demands of the six branch leaders and accepted responsibility for the defeat. He stated that he was ready to face the consequences and was not seeking to evade accountability.

Aminuddin emphasized that the decision regarding the future of PKR would be made by the party leadership and that he was prepared to accept any necessary actions. He also highlighted that the defeat should serve as a catalyst for rebuilding and renewing efforts. In the Negeri Sembilan election, PKR managed to retain only the Chuah and Sri Tanjung seats out of the 15 contested constituencies.

Aminuddin himself lost the Linggi state seat to BN's Datuk Mohd Faizal Ramli by a margin of 2,976 votes.
