Ambil inspirasi Kit Siang, DAP kekal parti berbilang kaum, kata Loke

Loke Siew Fook, the Deputy President of the Democratic Action Party (DAP), emphasized the importance of upholding the party's original ideals to fight for the welfare of all Malaysians, regardless of their ethnicity or religion. Speaking at a special party congress, Loke recalled the strong stance of party founder Lim Kit Siang, who rejected the attempt by former Malaysian Chinese Association (MCA) president Tan Siew Sin to dissolve DAP and join his party in the early 1970s.

According to Loke, Lim's decision was based on the principle that DAP was not a party for the Chinese community alone, but rather a united party formed by leaders and members from Malay, Indian, and other backgrounds. This occurred over 50 years ago, and today, DAP celebrates its 60th anniversary. As Deputy President in 2026, Loke reiterates his commitment to DAP being a multi-racial party for all Malaysian citizens.

He also acknowledged the biggest challenge the party has faced since its inception 60 years ago, which is the persistent racial discrimination faced by opponents. DAP has never taken any racial approach to target any community, he stated. Furthermore, the primary objective of the party in today's federal government is to break down the political barriers of racial discrimination and ensure that every Malaysian has equal opportunities to succeed in life.
