DAP wajar kekal dalam kerajaan, tetapi nilai semula hubungan dengan Anwar, kata perwakilan

Sangeet Kaur Deo, a Selangor DAP representative, argued that the party should continue to remain in a federal coalition government for now, but reassess its relationship with Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim. Speaking at a special DAP congress in Putrajaya, she said the party needed time to rebuild trust and confidence in the party.

"We can show the various reforms implemented by our minister, and many have been carried out at the ministerial level." However, she warned that the party cannot ignore the bigger issues it faces. "In so many issues, we chose to remain silent because we do not want to undermine the stability of the government," she said. Sangeet also stated that DAP cannot deny the controversies related to corruption that are increasingly drawing attention within the party.

"We have been mandated to govern by promising to fight corruption. Have we done that? No." She noted that Umno openly attacked DAP despite both parties being in a federal coalition government together. "Are they truly a coalition partner we can work with? I urge the Central Executive Council to seriously reassess our relationship with Anwar," she urged.

DAP held a special congress at the International Convention Centre in Putrajaya, with over 4,000 delegates voting on whether the party should remain in a federal coalition government until the end of the parliamentary term.
