Teen boy among 6 dead including suspect in Michigan shootings; girl survived

On Friday, a teenage boy was among six people, including the suspect, who were killed in a shooting spree in Michigan. The gunman was found dead in a wooded area following a wide search. A 16-year-old boy, a 45-year-old man, a 40-year-old woman, and a 13-year-old girl were among the victims, with the latter in stable condition. The suspect, Chad Hickman, 39, was also killed in the shootings.

Hickman had a prior conviction for misdemeanor fourth-degree child abuse in 2024, but was acquitted of more serious charges. Michigan Governor Gretchen Whitmer expressed her condolences to the victims and their families. The investigation into the incident is ongoing.
