Teen boy among 6 dead including suspect in Michigan shootings; girl survived

On Friday, a shooting in Missaukee County, Michigan claimed the lives of six individuals and left a teenage girl in critical condition. The victims included a 16-year-old boy, a 45-year-old man, a 40-year-old woman, a 13-year-old girl, a 39-year-old man, and a 53-year-old man. Police discovered the body of the suspect, Chad Hickman, 39, in a wooded area following a large-scale search.

All six victims succumbed to gunshot wounds, as confirmed by Michigan State Police. Lt. Ashley Miller stated that the community is "heartbroken" by the tragedy, while the investigation remains ongoing. Hickman had a prior conviction for misdemeanor child abuse in 2024, though lesser charges were dismissed. Governor Gretchen Whitmer expressed sympathy for the victims and their families.
