PM Modi Highlights 'Dimaagi Naxals' From Red Fort During I-Day Address, Calls For Their Identification & Isolation - VIDEO

On the occasion of Independence Day, Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressed the nation from the Red Fort. The speech focused on a new form of Naxalism, defined by the Prime Minister as "Dimaagi Naxals" or intellectual Naxals. While claiming that armed Maoist insurgency is nearing its end, Modi warned against the influence of individuals who continue to promote a Naxal mindset in India's power structures. He called for these individuals to be "identified, and isolated" to prevent their ideological influence.

Modi claimed that armed Maoist violence had caused disruption and hindered development in remote regions for decades. When the government came to power in 2014, Modi pledged to rid the country of Naxals. He now expressed happiness that Maoist violence is taking its "last breath." The Prime Minister highlighted that development is now reaching areas previously affected by Maoist violence through the construction of roads, infrastructure, and other development initiatives.

Over 3,500 security personnel lost their lives during the fight against Naxalism, a figure compared by Modi to casualties in wars. The Prime Minister noted that the continued presence of Naxal violence decades after Independence represented a significant challenge for the country. He recalled how armed groups had held parts of India hostage through violence and fear.

In addition to armed Naxalism, Modi alleged that individuals with a Naxal ideology had infiltrated India's institutional and political structures. Those with a Naxal mentality had been involved in government committees and influenced policies. The government's success in tackling armed Maoists, according to Modi, does not mean the ideological challenge has disappeared. He warned that some people continue to seek opportunities to create unrest and influence society through "Dimaagi Naxal" thinking.

Modi emphasized that the government has not only succeeded in eliminating armed Naxals but also in making progress in former Maoist-affected areas. The government has combined security operations with infrastructure and welfare measures, improving road connectivity, telecommunications, education, healthcare, and access to government services in these regions.

The Prime Minister urged India's youth to focus on nation-building and development, warning that "dimaagi Naxals" must be identified, isolated, and the youth connected with the mainstream effort to transform the country into a developed nation.
