Jharkhand exam protests leader claims stopped from joining Tiranga Yatra

On India's 80th Independence Day, a protest leader in Jharkhand claimed he was prevented from joining a Tiranga Yatra by the police. Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren, in his Independence Day speech, asserted that the struggles of Jharkhand Public Service Commission aspirants would not be left to the whims of mafias or irregularities.

The governor of Jharkhand, Santosh Kumar Gangwar, denounced recruitment exam malpractices, emphasizing the importance of fairness in education and competitive tests. The protesters, led by Devendra Nath Mahto, a leader of Jharkhand Loktantrik Krantikari Morcha, had been on a hunger strike for a fortnight, alleging irregularities in recruitment exams.

Mahto's attempt to join the rally was allegedly obstructed by the police, who allegedly forced him to stay at Sadar Hospital. Soren echoed the protesters' sentiments, stating that freedom encompasses good education for every child, dignified employment for every young person, prosperity for farmers, and self-reliant women.
