Jharkhand exam protests leader claims stopped from joining Tiranga Yatra

On the 80th Independence Day, a rally in Jharkhand turned contentious when the Jharkhand Police allegedly prevented JPSC-JSSC protester Devendra Nath Mahto from joining the Tiranga Yatra. Meanwhile, Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren highlighted in his Independence Day speech that the hard work of Jharkhand Public Service Commission aspirants would not be left to the whims of any mafia, corrupt system, or irregularity.

Governor Santosh Kumar Gangwar described recruitment exam malpractices as "unacceptable" and emphasized the link between fairness in education and competitive tests and students' trust and future. In his address at the 80th Independence Day event, Soren emphasized that freedom means more than political independence, including ensuring every child receives a good education and young people are given opportunities for dignified employment.

The protesters, under the JPSC-JSSC Reforms Manch banner, demanded greater transparency in recruitment exams, cancellation of certain tests, and an independent probe by the CBI or a panel of retired judges from outside Jharkhand into alleged irregularities.
