Penang Pakatan’s decision to stay with BN had component parties’ consensus, says Chow Kon Yeow

Butterworth, Aug 15 — Penang Pakatan Harapan (PH) has decided to continue its collaboration with Barisan Nasional (BN), with the agreement reached through consensus among all its party constituents, claims Chow Kon Yeow, state PH chairman. According to Berita Harian, a presentation of each party's stance was made before the PH Leadership Council endorsed the ongoing partnership.

Chow, who chairs the PH Leadership Council, stated that after reviewing each party's position, the council arrived at a consensus that was in line with their respective views. This statement came during an event at the Seberang Jaya Public Market following DAP adviser Lim Guan Eng's suggestion for another meeting of Penang DAP delegates to assess their opinion on the state PH leadership backing Umno's role in the government.

Although Chow couldn't comment on whether DAP held an internal meeting on the matter due to his non-membership in its state committee, he mentioned that Steven Sim, the Penang DAP chairman, shared the party's stance with PH. Sim, along with Penang Amanah chairman Muhammad Faiz Fadzil and state PKR Leadership Council chairman Datuk Dr Mohamad Abdul Hamid, were reported to have expressed the same opinion, leading to PH's decision to maintain the partnership.
